Inspiring Tuesdays

Although Tuesdays are my longest days, I look forward to them because of tech class. I am always so shocked with the amount of information and useful tools I walk out with every class! Tech is just such an amazing class to attend and I do not want the end to ever come.

Today in class we learnt a number of different things. First, we started off with adding two more slides to Powtoon. I've gotten a tad bit better at using Powtoon but there are a lot of tools that I still need to get used to. However, I do feel much more comfortable using it now compared to how I felt the first time I used it.

We also watched a Ted Talk featuring Sugata Mitra. His research was very informative. He explained how children work well when they are together because this allows them to learn from each other. He also mentioned the importance that technology has on education and how it could benefit students in terms of their own research. Mr. Mitra's TedTalk makes it intimidating to do mine because his was just so amazing. I like how he incorporated videos of the students he was talking about.. this is something that I will probably be doing with mine!

Our professor also introduced us to Plickers, which is an app used to take up surveys or multiple choice questions. Each student can be assigned with their own card to answer the question being asked (each card is shaped differently and lettered from a-d). This ensures confidentiality and confidence to students because they know that only the teacher can see how they answered the question. I thought this was a pretty neat app that I will definitely be using it in my classroom! Overall, I enjoyed this class as it taught me something new.. just like every week!
