What I Have Learned About Copyright
Prior to reading the number of articles I was assigned to read, I had no idea that copyright came with many rules and regulations. Copyright exists to protect work that people have produced. It is to give people credit for their work and to outline the importance of using their permission to use their work. One thing I will definitely be aware of while teaching in the classroom is the creative common license. Prior to showing videos in my classrooms, I will make sure that the videos I want to show have this license. To be completely honest, I had no idea that such a license existed. I will also make my students aware of this license so they are using the appropriate images/texts for their own work and to make sure they are able to cite things correctly. It would be a good idea to have a lesson about copyright and then have an activity followed by the lesson to see if they know the difference between what is appropriate to use in their work and what is not.
